Trial Chambers
The Grimwarden does not kill its trespassers. It teaches them.
Every corridor in the Trial Chambers was carved with intent. The pressure plates are not hidden — they are placed. The blades do not fall by accident — they fall on time. The pits, the darts, the flooded shafts, the snapping floors and whispering ropes — all of it was designed by a mind that took quiet, deliberate pleasure in the work. This is not a gauntlet of bad luck. It is a gauntlet of consequence.
Survivors speak of the Trial Chambers in the same hushed tone, no matter where they hail from. They speak of the moment they realised the floor was no longer beneath them. The moment they heard the click. The moment they understood that the Grimwarden had been watching the whole time, and was, perhaps, a little disappointed in them.
The trial does not ask if you are strong. It asks if you are paying attention. Most are not — and the Grimwarden keeps their bones to prove it.
